About Central Library

Libraries are essential to educational institutions, as they provide access to vast amounts of knowledge, research, and information. In the modern era, with the rapid advancement of technology, libraries have also transformed, and traditional brick-and-mortar libraries are becoming less prevalent. Nowadays, libraries are embracing digital technology, and the concept of the automated library is gaining popularity. Mewar University has fully automated its library, equipped with digital facilities, using LMS. The library has adequate subscriptions to e-resources and journals, which are adequately used by faculty members and students.

The Central Library of Mewar University is the hub of academic information. There are 85654 volumes with 23159 titles of books and national/international print journals containing various subjects. In addition to Central Library, there are well-established departmental libraries also in all departments. All the books are bar-coded and managed through KOHA library management software. The University has E-library with e-resources such as e-journals, e-books, and audio-video databases. E-library can be accessed on the university campus through IP-based or using provided ID & Password to users from outside of the campus. The library provides internet access facilities to its users through Wi-Fi and LAN connectivity. The library provides research support to the researchers & faculty members through urkund plagiarism software. The library has hard & soft copies of the thesis with their repository and uploaded on shodhganga. The library has a membership of NDLI and NDLI Club to users for access to the e-content of NDLI. The library provides online and offline reference services to library users. There is a Library Committee of 10 members including Convener, Members, and Member Secretary (Librarian). Feedback from the users is a regular practice.

The fully automated library with digital facilities and e-resources has made the library more accessible to students and faculty. The library is no longer limited to its physical space, and users can access it anywhere in the world, at any time. The institute's library also provides a range of digital facilities, such as computer workstations, printers, and scanners. These facilities enable students and faculty to access and print digital resources from the library. The library has adequetely been used by the faculty and students, which is a testament to the effectiveness of the automation and digitalization of the library. The library is now a hub of learning, research, and is easily accessible to all. The availability of e-resources and digital facilities has made it easier for students and faculty to access and use library resources. The use of LMS has also made library operations more efficient, enabling librarians to focus on providing better support to library users.
